Versteeg first played for the IceHogs in 2007-08 before going on to have a very successful NHL career with many teams, including their NHL affiliates the Blackhawks, and returned to the IceHogs in this season to close out his time as a professional hockey player, however he had to mutually terminate this deal before his bobblehead night due to a lingering hip injury
